Dr. Victor Uchenna Chigozie

 Dr. Victor Uchenna Chigozie is a Lecturer and Acting Head of Pharmaceutical Microbiology and Biotechnology at David Umahi Federal University of Health Sciences Uburu, Ebonyi State, Nigeria. He holds a Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Biotechnology from Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, and is dedicated to advancing research in bioprospecting, bioengineering, oncology therapeutics, pharmaceutical immunology, artificial intelligence in biotechnology, biosecurity, antimicrobial resistance (AMR), and One Health studies. Before joining academia in 2022, Dr. Chigozie served over a decade in the Lagos Public Service, rising to Chief Scientific Officer and Deputy Head of Unit. He contributed to key initiatives, including the Lagos State Circular Economy and Recycling Project, the Strategic Health Information Platform (SHIP), and advocacy for data governance and privacy. An early-career researcher, Dr. Chigozie has published extensively in reputable journals indexed in PubMed, Scopus, Clarivate, and other databases, accumulating numerous citations. His research has earned him several awards, including the NFID Travel Grant (USA, 2013), the Chinese Academy of Sciences Travel Grant (China, 2023), and a TETFund Institutional-Based Research (IBR) Grant (2024). Passionate about education, he teaches courses in pharmaceutical microbiology, molecular biology, antimicrobial chemotherapy, aseptic techniques, biotechnology in vaccine production, and clinical immunology. He emphasizes progressivism and behaviorist approaches to learning while mentoring young scholars. Dr. Chigozie is a Global Outreach Postdoctoral Member of the American Society of Microbiology (ASM) and belongs to professional bodies such as the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR), the Nigerian Bioinformatics and Genomics Network (NBGN), and the International Institute for Pharmaceutical Research and Innovation (IIPRI). Beyond academia, he enjoys reading, football, and global politics. He actively consults for NGOs, governmental agencies, and private institutions on policy briefs, manuscript development, and newsletters while also running a youth-focused foundation.
